"Under the moonlight, everything blooms — even secrets."

In the quiet town of Greystone Hollow, people prided themselves on their perfect gardens and friendly community events. But no one knew that hidden among them was a man with a passion far darker than prize-winning roses.

Meet Dr. Elliot Vane

Dr. Elliot Vane was beloved. A retired botanist, he ran a small greenhouse where he taught children about plants and gifted neighbors exotic cuttings.

But behind his kind smile and gardening gloves, Dr. Vane was hiding a deadly obsession — he had perfected a rare plant-based neurotoxin, and he was dying to test it.

The First Victim

Margaret Doyle, a local socialite and town gossip, was the first to fall.

At the annual spring garden tour, she sampled Dr. Vane’s homemade herbal tea — infused with just a few drops of his new toxin. Within minutes, she collapsed, her muscles locking as her breathing slowed to nothing. Everyone thought it was a sudden stroke.

Dr. Vane watched calmly from his rose display, admiring the efficiency of his creation.

The Curious Journalist

Sophie Lane, a young journalist for the Greystone Gazette, started noticing a pattern.

Several community members — all outspoken critics of Dr. Vane or his prized plants — had recently died of "natural causes":

  • A councilman who rejected Vane’s greenhouse expansion plan.

  • A competitor at the annual flower show who accused him of cheating.

  • A neighbor whose cat kept digging up Vane’s prized orchids.

The Greenhouse of Horrors

Determined to get the truth, Sophie snuck into Dr. Vane’s greenhouse one moonlit night.

She found shelves lined with vials of toxin, journals detailing each "experiment," and chilling sketches of future victims. In one journal entry, Vane referred to himself as "The Midnight Botanist."

The Twist

As Sophie fled with the evidence, she felt her body go numb. Her vision blurred, and she collapsed among the orchids.

Dr. Vane stepped from the shadows, smiling gently. "You really should have stayed out of my garden," he whispered, as he carefully collected his notes and returned to tending his plants under the stars.

Final Thought

In Greystone Hollow, the gardens have never looked more beautiful. And Dr. Elliot Vane? He still hosts community gardening classes, admired for his exotic blooms.

But if you visit… maybe skip the tea.
