Welcome to Fatal Femme Friday, where we uncover the women who rewrote the rulebook on crime, manipulation, and murder. This week, we shine the spotlight on Della Sutorius, a suburban Cincinnati woman whose charm masked deadly intentions.
The Perfect Wife… or So He Thought
In 1995, Della Sutorius married Dr. Darryl Sutorius, a respected heart surgeon. To outsiders, she was refined, social, and elegant — the perfect match. But the honeymoon phase quickly unraveled into a pattern of control, paranoia, and threats.
When Dr. Sutorius was found shot dead in the basement of their upscale home, Della claimed it was suicide.
Police didn’t buy it.
A Calculated Cover
Investigators uncovered a twisted web of lies:
-
Della had a violent history with past partners — many of whom feared for their lives.
-
She had access to the murder weapon and left no fingerprints.
-
She allegedly threatened Dr. Sutorius multiple times and tried to control his finances and life choices.
Even more disturbing? Della tried to rewrite the narrative, telling everyone she was a “wealthy widow” — before his death even occurred.
Justice Served
Della was convicted of aggravated murder in 1996 and sentenced to 23 years to life. She died in prison in 2010 — unrepentant and still blaming everyone but herself.
Femme Fatale, or Master Manipulator?
Della Sutorius used femininity as camouflage. Her carefully curated image made it hard for people to believe she could be dangerous. But beneath the surface, she was a ticking time bomb — and Dr. Sutorius paid the ultimate price.
Final Thoughts
Fatal Femme Friday reminds us that not all monsters hide in shadows — some wear designer suits and smile through dinner parties.
